CODA accredited programs require 2,932 hours of education to be appropriately and safely trained before applying to be a registered dental hygienist. States that have already passed dental assistant scaling have recommended training programs with potentially 60-90 hours of education. As registered practitioners who completed these required hours, we find the idea of lowering these standards of education to be unsafe and a risk to our profession. Our merchandise, informational handouts, etc. are geared toward highlighting the work it requires to ensure safety and standards throughout our profession. Proceeds from this campaign will go towards legislative and advocacy efforts in Colorado to help protect our license and standards of education and care.
