Ash has been in and out of the ER for about two weeks now. He had a fatal blockage which needed a catheter to flush his bladder out for him to feel better. The first two attempts didn't help, despite being told he was unblocked, he was sent home to us. It was clear he wasn't feeling well so we brought him back just to be referred to another ER with a surgeon. Upon arrival his kidney levels were dangerously high so they couldn't operate. He recovered quickly with another catheter and fluids. He then went into surgery, which is essentially a sex change, to help prevent further blockages. This surgery requires two weeks of cone wearing, no jumping, lots of medication and monitoring. Ash will be on a special diet for life, which we hope is full of good health, purring and bird watching. Oh, and belly rubs, he loves belly rubs.
