About Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition
The Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition (BEITC) was formed by the Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Zuni Tribe, and the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation?five sovereign Nations united to protect the sacred Bears Ears cultural landscape, known in our Native languages as Hoon'Naqvut, Shash Jaa, Kwiyagatu Nukavachi, and Ansh An Lashokdiwe.
Through a formal partnership, each Nation appoints a delegate to guide the Coalition?s work and the BEITC supports the Bears Ears Commission in leading the first-ever Tribal?federal collaborative management of a national monument.
We also invest in future leaders through programs like the Bears Ears Youth Council and Bears Ears Conservation Corps, which foster intergenerational learning, stewardship, and cultural connection.
The Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition Project is a fiscally sponsored project of Resources Legacy Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization. Learn more at https://www.bearsearscoalition.org/.
