The Flying Dog Foundation is a US registered 501(c)(3) registered charity. We help make profoundly positive, life-saving changes in the lives of dogs in dire situations by awarding grants to partner rescue organizations.
Our partner, Candy's Hound Rescue International (CHRI), is in dire financial straights. Primarily, they save greyhounds and other dogs from the China dog meat trade. Once under their protection, the dogs are flown to the UK and North America where they are fostered and cared for until adoption to carefully screened and loving homes.
With the pandemic still a global concern and escalating inflation, donations to their charity have significantly slowed. This couldn't happen at a more precarious time.
Currently, CHRI has 200 dogs boarded in kennel; they currently can't be transported to the UK or North America as China has applied another pandemic-induced lockdown. Every month, it costs thousands of dollars to board, provide food, and veterinary care. And while dogs aren't able to fly out of China, CHRI has had to make heartbreaking decisions to turn dogs destined for slaughter away.
100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will help fund an emergency grant to help CHRI through this crisis.
About the Design
American artist Karyn Jimenez Elliott has generously donated the fabulous artwork to help raise money for CHRI. Explains Karyn, "I illustrated the hound with green patches to look like it was the dog within their (CHRI) logo, and I placed their logo within the tag on the martingale collar. I chose to help in keeping down printing costs by limiting the design to two colors." In fine print contouring the dog's tail is "Candy's Hound Rescue International." Karyn has our gratitude.
