About this campaign

Rosewood

Looks like your text is -192 character over the limit. Please shorten it to 200 characters or less.

Rosewood, Florida was settled in 1845 in Levy County. In January 1923, white men from a nearby town accused a black man of beating and raping a white woman. When the black residents defended themselves, several hundred white people organized and began hunting black residents. Their homes and businesses were burned as they hid in swamps. Survivors were eventually evacuated, but the state and local authorities stood by and did nothing. No arrests were made and none of the remining black residents returned.

Portions of the sales from this shirt will go towards the Ida B Wells Foundation.
