The CSUN Black Social Work Caucus campaign is dedicated to empowering Black social work students while building an inclusive community centered on advocacy, leadership, justice, equity, and collective action. Allies are welcome to stand with us, learn alongside us, and participate in creating meaningful change. Together, we seek to strengthen connections across our campus and the communities we serve while honoring and uplifting Black voices, experiences, and contributions.
Through education, mentorship, advocacy, community engagement, and shared experiences, we aim to create opportunities for students to grow as social workers and emerging leaders. We promote culturally responsive social work practice and encourage students to use their knowledge, lived experiences, and professional skills to address inequities and advocate for positive social change.
A central part of our campaign is our Legacy Trip, an educational and cultural experience designed to connect students with Black history, resilience, leadership, and the generations of people whose work helped shape the social justice movements we continue today. The trip provides an opportunity to move learning beyond the classroom by visiting historically and culturally significant places, engaging with communities, reflecting on the past, and considering our responsibility as future social workers to carry that legacy forward.
Guided by our message, ?Empower. Advocate. Elevate.?, our campaign seeks to empower students to recognize their strengths, advocate for themselves and their communities, and elevate Black perspectives within social work. Our commitment to Community ? Justice ? Equity represents our belief that lasting change is strengthened through education, solidarity, service, and collective leadership.
The CSUN Black Social Work Caucus is building more than a student community?we are creating connections between history, the present, and the future of social work. Through the Legacy Trip and our broader campaign, we hope to honor those who came before us, invest in the leaders of today, and inspire the next generation to continue the work toward justice and equity.
Black voices are centered. Allies are welcomed. Legacy is honored. Community moves forward together.
