At We Need Diverse Books, we recognize the power of a diverse book.
They make a child feel seen.
They teach empathy and resilience.
They even save lives.
But diverse books are under attack. As book bans and censorship sweep the country, they disproportionately target diverse stories. We?ve watched in alarm as more and more titles are removed from shelves ? but we are fighting back.
Through Books Save Lives, WNDB takes meaningful action to make our world a better, more empathetic, and accepting place by addressing censorship and championing diverse voices.
ABOUT WE NEED DIVERSE BOOKS
A 501c3 nonprofit, WNDB runs twelve exciting initiatives that address the lack of diversity in publishing, from mentoring marginalized writers to donating tens of thousands of books to students nationwide.
