Our Elders Need Us : Supporting Five Households in Havana
Dear friends,
I?m reaching out to ask for your support for the elders of my community in Havana, who are facing increasingly difficult circumstances amid a humanitarian crisis. Economic collapse and soaring prices have put food, medicine, transportation, and other basic necessities beyond the reach of many older adults. ?Nuestras abuelas y abuelos nos necesitan ahora m?s que nunca!
Our elders have spent their lives caring for families, nurturing the community, and carrying the stories and traditions that we continue to share. Today, many need help meeting their most essential needs and receiving the care, comfort, and dignity they deserve.
My goal is to raise $5,000 to support five households in my community, each with at least one elder in need. Some are elders living alone, with younger family members having moved away or left the country in search of better opportunities. For those who remain, managing daily life without support close by can be especially difficult. It is heartbreaking to see people who have cared for so many now struggling to care for themselves.
The funds will help provide nourishing food, essential medicines, support for safe shelter, and transportation for medical care and other urgent needs. As well, to hire help for supervised care. Your contribution would ease some of these daily burdens and bring comfort and stability during this difficult time.
Any contribution, whatever the amount, would make a meaningful difference. If you cannot give right now, I understand. Sharing this letter privately with a trusted friend who may be able to help is also deeply appreciated. Purchasing these tshirts place your contribute 100% to the cause.
To respect the privacy of those we hope to support, please share this appeal only with friends and trusted contacts rather than posting it publicly.
Thank you for your care and generosity. These elders are part of the community that raised me, and your support means so much. Together, we can offer care to people who have given so much throughout their lives.
With love and gratitude,
Melvis Santa
