At Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue, it is our mission is to provide a safe haven for cats and kittens with exceptional medical care including life-saving surgeries and a robust foster program by a team of devoted staff and volunteers, while working with nationwide partners in high impact areas to reduce euthanasia rates and homeless cat populations. The culmination of our work does not end when a cat is adopted; instead, we move our cat loving community forward through education, low cost vaccinations and a compassionate rehoming program.
Over 3,100 homeless cats and kittens found new homes in 2019 through the hard work of Rocky Mountain Feline Rescue?s staff and volunteers. Because of our standard of care and our commitment to homeless cats and kittens, our rescue's cost per adoption can be unpredictable. This, combined with the shelter's exponential growth over the past five years, has resulted in a tight budget.
As a free-roaming, limited intake shelter, RMFR does not receive any civic or federal funding to support its operating expenses. Instead, we rely on adoption fees, our weekly Bingo fundraiser, individual donation, and grants to help cover the cost of saving lives. Individual donations comprise roughly one-half of RMFR's annual income, and allow the rescue to accept more animals with preexisting health issues, including FIV+ and FeLV+ cats. The individual donors who champion our shelter make it possible to ensure that during the time each cat spends with us, we make it a life worth living.
