?To see them flying for the first time made my heart soar.? ? Mary Birdsong, EBO Co-founder & Lead Shorebird Monitor
Saturday, August 17th, 2024 marked the FIRST TIME in 60 YEARS that Common Terns successfully nested in Pennsylvania! Erie Bird Observatory proudly monitors not only Pennsylvania?s only nesting pair/s of federally-endangered Piping Plovers, but also our state?s only pair/s of Common Terns!
To celebrate this momentous occasion (and the many years of hard work and effort that made it possible), we?ve created these beautiful shirts featuring artwork by EBO Staff Naturalist, Katie A!
All proceeds benefit Erie Bird Observatory?s migratory bird research, education, and conservation efforts! As always, we thank you and the birds thank you!
Local news story: It was their tern!
