Connection Beyond Words is a community awareness campaign created by Damar Services in Indianapolis, Indiana, to celebrate the many ways people communicate and connect beyond spoken language.

For individuals with autism and developmental disabilities who are nonverbal or communicate differently, navigating a world built around spoken words can sometimes feel isolating. Connection Beyond Words is working to change that by building greater awareness, understanding and acceptance of communication in all its forms.

Inspired by the way some of Indiana?s most beloved sports mascots create meaningful connections without ever saying a word, the campaign brings together Blue of the Indianapolis Colts, Boomer of the Indiana Pacers, Freddy Fever of the Indiana Fever, Rowdie of the Indianapolis Indians, Nitro of the Indy Fuel, and Hoosier the Bison of Indiana University to help share a simple but powerful message: you don?t need words to understand someone, include them or form a meaningful bond.

Our Unspoken Bonds shirts represent those connections. By wearing one, you?re helping spread the message that communication looks different for everyone, but everyone deserves to be seen, valued and understood.

Connection isn't spoken. It's experienced.
