The Detroit Lakes, MN Festival of Birds occurs each year in Mid-May. The Friends of Tamarac NWR is a sponsor and field trips include Tamarac Refuge as well as other nearby wildlife refuges, state lands, and other local natural areas. Funds raised from the purchase of these shirts will be used to support the conservation education programs on the refuge. Over 900 students currently participate in spring birding programs where they learn how to use binoculars, recognize bird songs, and learn the hazards of spring migration.
