Since 1982, the Downeast Salmon Federation has been working to restore populations of Atlantic salmon in Maine, but our efforts don't stop there!
Maine is home to the last remaining populations of Atlantic salmon in the United States. The same rivers salmon call home are also important habitat for all 12 sea-run fishes found here. Eels, sea lamprey, river herring, sturgeon, shad, and other diadromous fishes rely on healthy rivers for part of their life cycles.
The work we are doing to remove dams, conserve land, and restore habitat directly benefit all of these fascinating species. So when it comes to restoring Atlantic salmon populations, saving one really does benefit all!
Please consider purchasing a shirt, sweatshirt, or hoodie today to support our work and to look good doing so!
