From the designer:
While the Golden-Cheeked Warbler is a small bird, its extinction would be catastrophic for the Central Texas juniper-oak woodland ecosystem. Its loss would not only remove a key insect predator but, more critically, likely remove the primary legal and conservation driver protecting thousands of acres of habitat. This would expose the entire Edwards Plateau region to accelerated development and degradation, threatening the water, soil, and biodiversity that support both wildlife and human communities in Central Texas.
Although the Golden-Cheeked Warbler moved to the ""threatened"" list in 2025, scientists and conservationists emphasize that this is not a victory lap. Without continued strict habitat protections and active land management, the rapid loss of its unique Central Texas woodland home could quickly reverse these gains. The species is stable for now, but its long-term survival still hangs in the balance.
