Help us bring registered therapy dogs to the 2024 Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) Annual Conference in Las Vegas by snagging some great therapy dog gear!
Laurie Schlossnagle, with her various therapy dogs, have attended the Parents of Murdered Children (POMC) Annual Conferences for the last 14 years, since 2009. The dogs and their human partners are present to comfort and support the attendees (families and friends of murder victims and the professionals who help them). Over the years, the dogs have become an important part of the conference and Laurie presents several sessions on topics about therapy dog work.
The conference is designed to be an empowering event for attendees, but it brings up plenty of difficult topics and the dogs provide an incredible amount of comfort for them as they participate.
Our goal was to expand our presence at the conference with additional teams and we've brought on Monica Callahan with Orio and Hip Hop (coming from South Carolina) and Tena Parker with Strax (coming from Pennsylvania). They will be joining Laurie, canine Emme, and canine Bell (from South Carolina) in Las Vegas for the conference. Teams from Arizona are confirmed, with teams from Florida and Louisiana currently making plans to attend.
The therapy dog teams attend as volunteers and personally cover all of their own expenses including transportation, hotel accommodations, and conference registration fees. As cost of travel soars, we are looking to help offset some of the expense for our teams who are traveling long distances to be able to attend and do the incredibly important work that they do at this important conference.
All monies raised will go directly toward our volunteer's expenses for the conference. Should there be any excess, all funds will be donated to POMC.
