Ashley is a 34-year-old single mother to a beautiful 10-year-old girl, currently facing serious health challenges. While out of work due to a back injury, doctors discovered a mass on her adrenal gland. Since then, she has undergone numerous appointments, scans, and frequent travel to Birmingham for ongoing testing. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy three days a week for one week, followed by two weeks off, in six-week cycles?causing her to miss a significant amount of work and adding financial strain from lost wages, medical bills, and travel expenses. Recently, her endocrinologist informed her that her insurance denied coverage for Mitotane, an oral chemotherapy medication she needs for the next two years.
