A limited-edition collaboration between TBI MedSLP Inc. and YourPalliativePa (Chelsey Ernst, PA-C) merch fundraiser to support better brain injury education?and the people making neurodiversity resources more accessible at the Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle.
Why "Goals Before Holes"?
Before discussing feeding patients through a hole in their stomach (a PEG tube), we should first discuss goals.
What does the patient want? What outcomes matter to them? What does quality of life look like through their eyes?
This is about making sure conversations about nutrition, swallowing, and medical care start with the person's values.
Where Will Your Money Go?
This fundraiser is funding multiple causes!
- Brain injury Education for Clinicians and Survivors
- Brain Injury Awareness and Community Impact
- Neurodiversity Resources and Access to necessary, therapeutic services and community programs.
- Raising awareness about the importance of palliative care medicine, speech pathology, and improving a patient's quality of life with a conversation.
80% supports TBI MedSLP's work creating evidence-based brain injury education for clinicians.
20% goes to the Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle, helping expand resources and support for neurodivergent individuals and families.
What is the Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle?
The Neurodiversity Resource of the Panhandle runs several educational and social programs, as well as a community partnership with first responders in two counties to provide ? at no cost ? calming sensory bags for neurodiverse individuals experiencing sensory overload or distress during an emergency. Our main focus, however, is our Financial Aid Program, which we continually fundraise to support. Families across the Florida Panhandle can apply for funding for neurodiverse diagnostic appointments, therapy copays, or specialized tutoring, such as support for dyslexia or dysgraphia. There is no age limit, and families can apply once a year to help them get the services their family member needs. This assistance can mean the difference between accessing the ongoing support their loved one requires and going without when education system services cannot meet those needs. The generous contribution from the TBI MedSLP campaign will be earmarked for this aid program, allowing more families access to care.
