We aren't mean girls, but we love a good meme!
The TNR process involves humanely trapping feral cats (sometimes referred to as "community cats"), bringing them into a local clinic for spay/neuter surgery as well as a rabies vaccine and an ear tip?the universal sign of a fixed feral cat?and then returning them back to their outdoor homes once they're recovered. TNR has been proven to be the least costly and most humane way of stabilizing the feral cat population, and it can eventually reduce the size of colonies in an area. Spaying and neutering feral/community cats eliminates unwanted behaviors like spraying and fighting, and cuts down on the spread of disease. Perhaps most importantly, TNR reduces the number of kittens that are born?and die?outdoors.
The Chattanooga Feral Cat Alliance is a small non-profit organization providing trap/neuter/return services and education in Chattanooga, Tennessee. We never charge for our services, are staffed by a small number of volunteers, and operate 100 percent on donations?including proceeds from our Bonfire fundraisers like this one!
