I originally designed this for myself: something I could wear every day that goes with everything I own, but that also says something. I wanted a shirt that would make people stop and ask about it, giving me a chance to spread the word about Jane Doe and the Cornell 7. I designed it entirely on my own, with no AI involved.
The idea came after I kept hearing that journalists and other media outlets were trying to expose Jane Doe's identity. As a survivor of a fraternity sexual assault, I empathize with what she's going through. Her privacy is the last place of safety she has left. Everything else has been stripped away.
Some people may think, "She's bringing attention to herself by suing an Ivy League school." But that misses the point. Living with this and staying quiet isn't peace or safety either. She is on a healing journey, working toward a better life, and she deserves to do it on her own terms.
My hope is to make something easy to wear daily that sparks conversations and helps Jane Doe and others like her have an army of people around them.
50% of profits go to a Sexual Assault Resource Center. I hope to raise that percentage if the campaign does well.
