In October 2019, Katie was rescued from a tree?terrified, defensive, and fighting for survival. For years, she worked so hard to learn that people could be kind. Slowly, patiently, she transformed from a scared, fractious cat into a sweet, trusting girl who was just beginning to believe she belonged in someone?s arms.
She was so close to adoption.
And then she escaped.
Not understanding traffic, Katie walked in front of a car. The impact shattered her jaw in multiple places. In an instant, all the progress she fought so hard to make was overshadowed by unimaginable pain.
A good Samaritan brought her to the emergency vet. Neither they nor our regular vets could help set her jaw. She was rushed to UW?Madison for emergency surgery?the only specialist option closest to our budget. Her jaw is now wired shut to hold the fractures together. She has some adorable Purple buttons to help keep things held tight. She faces six weeks confined to a crate while her bones slowly heal. She was tube-fed in the beginning. Now she laps up a slurry on her own, trying so hard to recover.
Her total medical will be almost $7,000.
That amount has gutted our account. From a purely financial perspective, it may not make sense to take this on.
But how do you walk away from her now?
How do you give up when she had just learned to trust?
How do you say no to a cat who was finally ready to leap into someone?s arms?
Katie does not deserve for her story to end in pain. She deserves a second chance?to heal, to be safe, to finally know what it means to be loved without fear.
We cannot do this alone.
If you are able, please donate today. No amount is too small. Every single dollar brings Katie closer to a pain-free life and the forever
home she has waited years to find.

Please help us give her the ending she deserves.
