We are Josh and Shannon, and we are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for your support for our daughter, Presley. Presley is 13 years old and an incredible young girl with a fiery spirit and a resilient heart. She brings joy to everyone who knows her, and we are endlessly proud of what she has overcome in her 13 years. Due to her continuing complex medical needs, Presley relies on a wheelchair. As she continues to grow, so do the physical challenges of caring for her safely. She is now close to 90 pounds and nearly 5 feet tall, making it increasingly difficult?and unsafe?to lift and transfer her in and out of a standard vehicle.
This November, Presley will undergo spinal fusion surgery. This important procedure will help her long-term health, but it also adds urgency to our situation. Following surgery, safely transferring her will become even more challenging, making accessible transportation not just helpful, but essential for her recovery and daily care.
A wheelchair-accessible vehicle would allow Presley to remain safely in her wheelchair while traveling, providing her with comfort, dignity, and security. It would also ensure we can continue getting her to medical appointments, therapies, and family activities without risking injury to her or to us as her caregivers. Many of her medical appointments are all over the country, in different states, making safe and reliable transportation even more critical.
Unfortunately, the financial burden of obtaining a wheelchair-accessible vehicle is significant. Insurance does not cover any expenses related to the wheelchair vehicle or lift, so we are responsible for the full cost ourselves. To help supplement the fundraiser and raise awareness, we will also be selling t-shirts. If you feel moved to support Presley, we would be deeply grateful for any contribution. If giving isn?t possible, we completely understand?simply sharing our story or keeping Presley in your thoughts and prayers means so much to us.
