This campaign's goal is to raise awareness that in neuromuscular breathing weakness the primary issue is with muscles (muscles between the ribs, abdominal muscles, the diaphragm, neck muscles, and sometimes the throat and mouth), NOT the lungs. It takes muscles to ventilate the lungs, and sometimes assistance is needed with bi-level mechanical ventilation (a respiratory assist device or portable home use ventilator).
