Igarta Creatives was built around a simple belief: the way athletes are seen shapes how sports grow.
After spending years as a player learning the game, watching film, studying teams, and having had played at the Division 1 level. Field hockey gave me some of my strongest memories, biggest challenges, and most important relationships.
My relationship with sports has also been shaped by my own experiences outside of the game. As someone who is a biracial half Black and half Asian, queer woman, I grew up in predominantly white spaces and sports environments where finding a sense of belonging did not always come easily. Those experiences changed the way I look at visibility and the importance of seeing people represented, celebrated, and recognized for who they are.
When I started photographing field hockey, I realized I had a new way to contribute to the game. I could help tell the stories of the athletes, teams, and communities that make women?s sports special.
People need the chance to see the game, understand the game, and connect with the people who make it what it is. Coverage creates those opportunities. It allows athletes to be recognized for the work they put in, gives new fans a way to discover the sport, and shows younger players what is possible for them.
That belief is at the center of Igarta Creatives. Through sports photography and graphic design, my goal is to keep women?s sports in focus and help create a future where more athletes, fans, and communities can experience everything these sports have to offer.
This collection represents the athletes who continue to show up, the communities that support them, and the future of women?s sports we are all helping build!
