In early spring 2021, two extraordinary pigs named Webster and Sal found their way to Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary. Their journey began with a daring rescue by the compassionate souls at McKamey Animal Center in Chattanooga, TN. These brave brothers had made headlines with their heart-wrenching story.
WTVC-TV NewsChannel 9 News even covered their story in October 2020

It all started when school security guards stumbled upon young Webster and Sal at a local high school. Shocked and appalled, they witnessed two high school boys arriving on a boat, intending to abandon these innocent creatures as part of a prank against a rival school. To further torment them, the teens had spray-painted numbers on their bodies. Webster bore the mark "M1," while Sal carried the burden of "M2."
The guards immediately sprang into action, realizing the danger these pigs faced. They alerted the authorities and McKamey Animal Center. Taken to the Animal Center, the dedicated staff wasted no time in giving them a thorough bath, desperately attempting to remove every trace of the toxic paint.
As the investigation unfolded, law enforcement and the animal center tirelessly sought to uncover the origin of these innocent victims. They hoped to find the students responsible for this cruel prank. Sadly, their efforts reached a frustrating dead end. It was clear that Webster and Sal needed a sanctuary where they could heal both physically and emotionally.
Under the loving care of the McKamey Animal Center, Webster and Sal thrived and grew stronger each day. Finally, after receiving a clean bill of health from the vet, they were deemed ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives at Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary in Georgia. With open arms and hearts, we welcomed them as the newest members of our big pig herd, becoming the fourth and fifth lucky "big" pigs to find solace within our sanctuary's embrace.
Despite enduring the trauma of their past, Webster and Sal have shown incredible resilience and have inspired us all with their unwavering capacity for love and forgiveness. Webster, is now an 800-pound crossbreed of the majestic Yorkshire pig, possesses a spirit as robust as his size. His gentle nature and determined spirit have won the hearts of all who have had the privilege of meeting him. He has had some concerning hoof and mobility issues over the last year and is now requiring more in-depth diagnostics and more regular visits with our veterinarian to treat him and make sure he has the best quality of life possible. We recently purchase the Healing Haven Barn on a financing plan, just to be able to give him his own room and allow the Vet Team to have the appropriate space needed to provide his care on-site.
Now, Webster needs your help. His medical care expenses are climbing and as an underfunded sanctuary, these expenses have the power to make or break us. With your help, we can make sure together that Webster gets all the care that he needs and can continue to live out his beautiful life in the comfort of our Sanctuary.
