"LIGHT UP FOSTER CARE" is a viral T-shirt campaign, centered around shining light on every aspect of the foster care system.

Before my wife and I became foster parents, we had no idea what the children in our community and nation were going through. There is a HUGE gap between foster families and the surrounding community. If you dive into foster care, you will see that it is overcome with darkness. The statistics are despairing. I want to assure you, that is not the whole story; THERE IS LIGHT. All across our nation, children in foster care are thriving. Children that have been removed from a dangerous situation can feel safe and loved. Foster families are making huge sacrifices to ensure children can be children and receive the tools need to succeed in life.

We would like to encourage you to use the hashtag #lightupfostercare when sharing these stories of hope!

Although we are one organization, Light of Mine Ranch, we believe Foster Care Awareness needs to improve across the entire United States. Our logo is not on the shirt and the profit margins are very small because we feel like it is more important to share the message than receive the money. The price of the shirt is $22.22 to highlight that every 2 minutes a child enters foster care. Your donations will go to our programs that directly help support foster families and children in foster care.

Here is how the LIGHT came to be:

My wife and I have always talked about the darkness involved in foster care. The events leading up to separation from family and then the placement into a strangers home. The darkness manifests itself physically in the facial expressions of a child. When that child starts to receive unconditional love, support and safety, that begins to fade and a their face begins to LIGHT UP! At one point in our journey we had a chance to visit with our previous foster children. The young boy drew a picture for me. It was a man with a few random letters scribbled underneath. I asked him what it was and he said, "that's you." I said what does it say, and he said, "LIGHT"

Our organizations name is synonymous with the familiar lyrics, "this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine"
