My name is Myleigh Brennan, and in October of 2021, I lost my best friend Morgynne Sevigny to suicide. Morgynne had been silently struggling with her mental health for a long time. Despite her own challenges, she consistently prioritized ensuring others felt loved, accepted, and heard.
After her passing, I felt the necessity to honor Morgynne's memory in a meaningful way. That's why I founded Mariposas for Morgynne, an annual fundraiser aimed at supporting those facing mental health challenges. It's not just about remembering Morgynne; it's also a celebration of her unwavering belief in kindness.
About last year's 'Butterfly Effect of Kindness' campaign:
Witnessing the incredible impact Morgynne had, even in her short time with us, completely changed my outlook on life. The Butterfly Effect of Kindness, inspired by the Chaos Theory, shows how even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. Kindness is a healing force, and it's the first step we as a society need to take towards preventing suicide and creating a better world. One act of kindness can set off a chain reaction of positivity that reaches far beyond its initial interaction. Kindness is a force for positive change, and by embracing the Butterfly Effect of Kindness, we can recognize how small acts can create a long lasting impact on mental health and, ultimately, prevent suicide. As Morgynne wisely said, "No one's life is easy; you never know what someone else is going through." The way we treat others can have a long lasting impact on them, more than you realize. This year's fundraiser is a reminder to spread kindness wherever we can. Let's honor Morgynne's legacy by spreading compassion and positivity wherever we go. Together, we can make a difference and help prevent suicide one small act of kindness at a time.
100% of profits and donations will be going to Camp Kita. Which is a non profit extremely important to both Morgynne?s family and I. Learn more about Camp Kita and their mission statement here.
Let Morgynne's story be a reminder that life gets better. Your current situation doesn?t have to be your final destination. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide please speak up or call 988. Everyone is worthy of being heard.
