We run, walk, and fundraise in support of our friend, Mimi, who has been diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. Mimi's lively presence and positive energy are a joy to be around. In 2019, Mimi asked that we come to the PHenomenal Hope 5k with her, and we've been there ever since.
Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension is a very rare, under-diagnosed and often misdiagnosed disease. This disease causes high blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries, making it harder for the blood to flow through the lungs to pick up oxygen, causing potentially life-threatening consequences such as right heart failure and even death. When diagnosed in time, treatments can be administered that improve quality of life and may prolong it. At this time PH is still considered a terminal illness, but we believe that through research we will find the cure for PH.
