Gossip is the alpha male of Pelon group. He fought for the alpha male position in 2015 and has maintained his role since. His initial "rise to power" was a battle with his brother, Gadget, the previous alpha male of Pelon group. Gossip won, and Gadget passed away. In one of Gossip's first acts as alpha male, he committed infanticide, which is a common primate behavior (which is also displayed across the animal kingdom), which likely allowed him to sire offspring more quickly with the females. This is important for alpha males, because most of them do not last as alpha for more than a year, and alpha males usually dominate mating. This means that they are pressed for time to carry on their bloodlines. However, Gossip is coming up on a decade as the alpha male, so he did not require such urgency after all!
