Just weeks before my mom passed away, she bought me a few small gifts for my 17th birthday and all of them were yellow. One of her nicknames for me was sunshine because I was a happy child; but I didn't feel happy about her leaving my life. So as she gave me each yellow gift, she reminded me of the importance of living bravely. She told me to not become bitter and angry after she was gone and she encouraged me to never give up on my dreams, "Live a life that shines...just be you." Yellowrunner is a tribute to my mother and her powerfully encouraging words that I have often clung to in my darkest times. Yellowrunner isn't about me, but rather spreading hope and love to keep going...to keep living.
