Established in 1984, the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) rescues and cares for abused, neglected, and retired wild animals from circuses, zoos, and the exotic ?pet? trade ? and at the same time fights to end their exploitation.
At our 2,300-acre sanctuary in California?s Gold Country, elephants, tigers, bears, monkeys, and other wild animals have found a permanent home. They roam spacious habitats filled with native vegetation, shady oak trees, and refreshing lakes and pools.
PAWS works toward a future where wild animals will no longer be mistreated, exploited, and held captive for entertainment and profit ? and sanctuaries like ours will no longer be needed.
