Established in 2021, the Persimmon Creek Writers and Artists Residency has brought creative writers, artists and musicians to work in Arrow Rock, Missouri, over the past five summers. The residency is designed to introduce the village of Arrow Rock to a wider creative audience; recognize the historic presence of Black lives in Arrow Rock; and enrich present-day awareness of this one-time vibrant community. Now preparing for its sixth year in Summer 2026, the program hosts two residents in Arrow Rock for two weeks each summer, drawing one regional and one national artist per year.

The program is funded by gifts from private donors and collaborates with the 501(c)3 nonprofit Experience Arrow Rock to ensure future funding and resources.
