Sugar is a Kune Kune pig that our sanctuary took in on an emergency basis after a butcher gave her 48 hours to find a home. She was once an attraction for a "hog wild" themed party for kids, and when a partygoer saw how amazing Sugar was, she plead with the butcher to let her go instead of eating her after the party. Her life was saved and she is now a beloved member of the Sweet Peace pig herd. We hope for a future where pigs are seen as valued individuals and family members, and are totally liberated from being exploited for food or entertainment.

Ella is a miniature pitbull that lives at the sanctuary after she was liberated from horrific conditions at a puppy mill. She was used as a breeding dog there and forced to have many litters. Ella was treated like any other farmed animal, exploited for her reproductive system so her human handlers could profit. After an emotional transformation, today she is curious, outgoing, and extremely affectionate. We hope one day that all pitbulls and other dogs no longer exist to be bred, sold, and discarded, but are treated with compassion and as individuals with lives of their own.
