It?s Bird-A-Thon season! Join us for a month of birding, community, and conservation. Whether you're spotting birds or supporting a team, the Bird-A-Thon is open to all ages and skill levels.
Pick any day between September 15 and October 15 to identify as many bird species as you can in a 24-hour period?on your own or with a team.
Take part in fun challenges, compete for prizes, and connect with others at in-person and virtual events. Please visit our Events page for details.
It?s easy to get started! Visit pointblue.org/birdathon to learn more and set up a personal or team fundraising page, or make a donation to help us meet our fundraising goal. As a participant in the country?s longest-running Bird-A-Thon, you?ll be supporting Point Blue's work since our founding in 1965 to conserve birds, other wildlife, and ecosystems through science, partnership, and outreach.

Each year, the Bird-A-Thon committee selects a new mascot. For 2025, committee members Heather Cameron, Aaron Haiman, and Melissa Pitkin chose the Bewick?s Wren for its strong ties to Point Blue?s history. First studied at our Palomarin Field Station in 1979, it played a key role in research on survival and reproduction in coastal scrub habitats. Its unusual ground-cavity nesting behavior and vocals make it especially notable. Once declining, the species has rebounded thanks to habitat restoration?making it a fitting symbol of conservation success.
Our artist this year is Christina Burnham, who is not only an early career conservation science rockstar that studies penguins with Point Blue's Antarctica program, but also an amazing artist and graphic designer! What can't this gal do?? Follow her on Instagram @christinamaddy.
