Powell Stackhouse Park was gifted to the City of Johnstown on March 2, 1931.
Most of the land was a gift from Cambria Iron Company; Mr. Daniel Stackhouse was the President of the Company at the time, and the Park was named in honor of his father, who served as an officer in the Civil War and worked for the Company from 1855 to 1927.
The deed to the City carries nine restrictive covenants intended to preserve the land as a public park. These nine stipulations prohibit commercial timbering, development for non-recreational purposes, and other activities that could alter the park's natural charm and character.
In celebration of the Stackhouse family, the park's official completion in 1936, and the deed that ensures the park's perpetual preservation as a public woodland area, this exclusive shirt features a photo of Powell Stackhouse on the front and a small excerpt of verbatim text from the 1931 deed on the back.
All proceeds from the sales of this shirt benefit Stackhouse Park, Inc. Thank you for your support!
