About this campaign
Black August is an annual commemoration honoring Black freedom fighters, political prisoners, and those who died resisting oppression. Initiated in 1979 in California prisons, it focuses on principles of discipline, political education, and resistance.
The people who created freedom in conditions designed to deny it knew: our future needs resourcing, not just recognition.
