About this campaign
Each purchase helps build our independent storytelling project to highlight the work of LGBTQIA2S+ researchers and advocates worldwide.
Our community-centered project aims to:
- Bring together queer researchers, storytellers, and advocates
- Highlight the contributions of queer people to a better understanding of our world (and beyond!)
- Facilitate discussions about how we carry our identities (queer and otherwise) into our fieldwork
- Amplify ways to make fieldwork safer and inspire future generations

Nova West is an award-winning filmmaker, published photographer, creative artist, and environmental educator originating from southern Minnesota. As a National Geographic Explorer and member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, they are dedicated to crafting a more diverse and holistic landscape for wildlife storytelling. Their passion lies in exploring our natural world and finding creative ways to lift as they climb.
Nova has been making art since they were old enough to hold a pencil. This creative outlet has been used throughout their life to challenge their perspective, explore, and connect to the natural world around them. They initially pursued studio art in college, switching to an outdoor education major after realizing their passion for the outdoors. As they finished their degree, they continued to build their art skills, finding new and creative ways to bring art into the realm of outdoor education.
