This year, we are celebrating the 20 year anniversary of our organization. It all began as a small group of people that simply wanted to advocate for the better treatment of pet rabbits. RA began its journey advising the Oregon Humane Society visitors on what rabbits need from their adoptive homes, in order to improve the placements of rescued rabbits and ensure they don?t end up back in a rescue.
In 2002, while continue to advocate for the betterment of rabbit care, RA officially became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit rabbit rescue. Today, Rabbit Advocates is still run by 100% volunteers. We are more than just a rescue, we have become a rabbit foster home system, an educational resource, and a community for rabbit lovers.
"For Rabbit Advocates? 20th Anniversary illustration, I wanted to highlight three primary themes; RA & the ways we help rabbits, current adoptable buns, and Portland, OR. Framing the RA 20th Anniversary text we have icons representing RA?s activities; husbandry & health, rescue, hay packing and education. At the bottom we have illustrations of (at the time) currently adoptable buns, as well as a few add-ins to complete 20 different bun portraits. Throughout the illustration there are Portland icons; the mountains, trees and roses." - Meg Pirrung, RA Communications Volunteer, designer of merch graphic
