Matt & Brittney Punt and family from Wasilla, AK need our prayers and support.
Matt was critically injured in a catastrophic plane crash and was transferred from Anchorage to Harborview Medical Center?s regional burn unit in Seattle. He sustained severe burns over 60% of his body along with other traumatic injuries, including a broken leg requiring surgery.
The next few days ahead are critical. Doctors expect Matt to face a long and difficult road involving extensive burn care, multiple surgeries, rehabilitation, and months of recovery in Seattle.
As Brittney walks through this unimaginable season, she is also navigating the challenges of caring for and homeschooling their three boys back home in Alaska while traveling between Wasilla and Seattle to support Matt?s care.
While the family does have a health sharing program, it is currently expected to reimburse up to $250,000 in eligible hospital expenses. Beyond that, the Punt family anticipates significant ongoing medical, travel, temporary housing, lost income, and recovery-related costs throughout the months ahead.
Our current fundraising goal of $500,000 is simply an initial estimate based on what is known right now. Because Matt?s injuries are so severe and his recovery is expected to take many months, the full extent of long-term medical, rehabilitation, travel, and family support needs is still unknown.
We are rallying their Alaskan, North Dakotan, Iowan & Missourian (where they currently and have lived previously) friends, family and community to do what the body of Christ does best: come alongside the Punt family in prayer, presence and practical support during this devastating and uncertain time.
Most of all, we ask for prayer:
- for Matt?s life and speedy healing
- for wisdom and endurance for the medical teams
- for strength and peace for Brittney and the boys
- for God?s provision and nearness in every step ahead
- and for miracles, for impossible things to become possible in Jesus? name, for statistics to not define Matt?s future.
