The astronauts on the STS-51L Challenger crew were dedicated to a mission inspired by education. Following the 1986 tragedy, the crew's families established Challenger Center as a way to honor their loved ones while keeping their educational mission alive. Since then, our STEM programs have inspired and engaged over 6.5 million students through experiential hands-on learning opportunities. Every day, our nationwide network of Centers launches kids into simulated space missions, where they can explore careers and futures they never thought possible.
