The Chicago Black-crowned Night Heron (BCNH) Project is a volunteer outreach group dedicated to raising awareness for Illinois? state-endangered night heron population, including the last major breeding colony at Lincoln Park Zoo. The project shares information from ongoing research by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Lincoln Park Zoo, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to help the public understand these birds and their urban habitat. Its mission is to support awareness, education, and conservation efforts for Black-crowned Night Herons.
