Two weeks after her second birthday, Emmalyn was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer.

She fought and achieved remission through multiple cycles of chemotherapy, MIBG radiation, tandem bone marrow transplants, and immunotherapy for eighteen months.

Emmy was on maintenance therapy and had clear scans and bloodwork until thirteen months after treatment, at four and a half years old, a CT scan showed extensive recurrent neuroblastoma.
