On my journey towards becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I spent time as a Social Worker with the Department of Children and Families. Being so intimately involved in the lives of children in foster care had a profound impact on me, and undoubtedly shaped the trajectory of my career towards specializing in trauma.

For quite some time I have been thinking about how I could continue to support this population. When I heard about Foster Care Essentials, a local nonprofit that provides essentials, at no charge, to families that care for children in foster/kinship care, I knew this was an agency I wanted to somehow be involved with.

The vision of Foster Care Essentials is to ensure that every child in foster & kinship care has access to the essentials they need to thrive, empowering families to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit Foster Care Essentials so that they can continue to support families who provide care and stability to children in need.
