For more than 50 years, the Hawk Migration Association (HMA) has advanced the study and conservation of migratory raptors by connecting people with the spectacle of hawk migration. Through a network of more than 200 affiliated hawkwatch sites across North, Central, and South America, we collect, manage, and share critical migration data that supports scientific research, long-term monitoring, and conservation across the hemisphere.

HMA maintains HawkCount, the premier database for raptor migration data in the Americas, and collaborates with partners to analyze long-term population trends through the Raptor Population Index. We also publish Hawk Migration Studies, our semiannual journal featuring migration reports, research, and conservation updates that help advance the understanding of raptor populations.

Beyond collecting data, HMA uses the spectacle of raptor migration to educate and inspire people throughout the Americas to appreciate and conserve birds of prey. We support a growing network of community scientists across the hemisphere, expanding monitoring coverage while providing trusted data and resources for researchers, conservationists, educators, birders, and the public. Counting, conserving, and caring about raptor populations through monitoring and education is what we do.
