On December 17, Lucas? arm intermittently shook and he stumbled; these were the first signs of something bigger. Within two weeks, he could no longer walk or stabilize himself and suffered from full body tremors. By three weeks, he also struggled to speak and had uncontrollable eye movements. He has gone from a very independent toddler to needing constant support.

Lucas was eventually diagnosed with:

• Neuroblastoma, a rare cancer that primarily affects children under five, and
• Opsoclonus Myoclonus Ataxia Syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder of the nervous system, which was triggered by the tumor.

Lucas has responded well to treatment, but we have become very aware of the need for additional research for both of these rare conditions. Proceeds from this store will benefit Boston Children?s Hospital where Lucas is being treated and the family through their GoFundMe: Little Lucas' Big Battle.

The name Lucas means ?Bringer of Light,? a title that our Lucas seems to epitomize. He?s been through a lot in his almost three years on this earth, including a three-month NICU stay after birth, and now this complicated diagnosis that will require years of treatment and monitoring. Through all of this, Lucas has continued to light the way with his energetic nature and genuine happiness.
