Why do I keep saying yes?
Because I encounter Jesus in a real and powerful way through every single kid I meet. It changes me. It deepens my understanding of who God is. And I get a front-row seat to kids meeting Jesus?moments that leave a lasting imprint on their lives. It?s holy ground, and I never take it for granted.
This summer, though, will look a little different.
If you?ve followed my health journey, you know the past several months have been intense. What began with a failed surgery in September turned into an emergency situation, a major operation, and serious complications. In January, I spent a week in the hospital and nearly lost my life. Our family is still recovering?physically, emotionally, and financially. My health is still fragile, and we?re taking things one step at a time. Because of that, fundraising is more important than ever as I make travel adjustments based on my energy levels. For example, a camp I would typically drive to, I?ll now need to fly to so I can conserve my energy and be fully present for the week.
With all of that in mind, our summer rhythms will shift. Mr. Lou will be home more, working to help stabilize things financially, and the boys will be with him during most of my camp weeks. We have a few tentative plans to have them join me here and there, but much of it depends on what we?re able to fund.
Here?s the reality: the camps I serve operate on very tight budgets. They work hard to keep camp affordable for kids who need it most, which means they often can?t fully cover speaker costs. I do everything I can to meet them where they are?which is why I fundraise to cover the gap. For example, just one flight this summer will cost over $700 out of pocket.
So I?m inviting you to partner with me.
When you give, you?re not just supporting me?you?re investing in what God is doing in the lives of kids all summer long. You?re helping create space for them to encounter Jesus.
And I want you to be part of the story.
Everyone who gives will receive a weekly camp recap?stories, prayer requests, and behind-the-scenes moments I won?t share anywhere else. It?s your front-row seat to what God is doing each week.
Thank you for praying, giving, and cheering me on. It means more than I can say. ?
