Friedreich?s Ataxia affects real people we love. Zack and Kelly live with the impacts of FA every single day. Zack gets around in a wheelchair, but that hasn?t slowed him down ? he rides his hand bike whenever he can, has rigged it up as a stationary bike at home, and can be found at concerts with his friends and sister. He works full-time at an accounting firm and has an MBA in accounting. Kelly also uses a wheelchair and stays as strong as possible through regular therapy exercises. When she?s not writing for her blog at kellonwheels.com or building Lego kits, she?s reading or attending her monthly book club with friends. Kelly is also an accomplished artist ? in 2021, she entered the Rare Artist Contest sponsored by the EveryLife Foundation and won her age group for her oil painting, ?Hope Through Trees.?
Join Us on May 11 in Danville, CA
We?re participating in the national rideATAXIA event, and we?d love for you to be part of it. Choose your challenge:
- 18-mile cycling ride
- 2-mile walk
All participants join teams from across the country in a collective push to fund FA research. And afterward, we?ll celebrate together at Hazy Barbecue ? because you?ll have earned it!
How You Can Help
We believe we have the power to accelerate FA research ? but it takes all of us. Here?s how to get involved:
- Ride or walk with us on May 11
- Donate to support the Friedreich?s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) and its urgent mission to find treatments and a cure.
- Order a custom Team Hennessy tee shirt and show your support wherever you go (big thanks to Jennie Drummond for the amazing design!)
Signing up and donating is fast and easy ? every contribution, big or small, moves research forward for Zack, Kelly, and everyone living with FA.
