I am Sofia, and I'm 12 years old. I have lived with Type One Diabetes for almost 6 years: half my life! It is not very fun to deal with everyday, but I'm very lucky to have all my friends and family supporting me. Every year I have a fundraiser, sell t-shirts, and so much more! I love to dance more than everything, but diabetes makes it harder. When I'm active, my blood sugars tend to go down. Raising awareness helps, so my dance coaches and teammates understand. Sometimes people at dance competitions don't understand, and sometimes they even think or say incorrect facts about this disease! It makes me frustrated when people assume things like that. I raise plenty of awareness, show my devices off, and sometimes find another diabetic that understands me more than even my teammates!
