Dating back to the 1940s, the phrase, "friend of Dorothy" was used as a subtle way for those in the LGBTQ+ community to inquire about someone's sexuality without inadvertently revealing their own. I created this design to remind myself and others the importance of knowing and understanding queer history. The front features the famous euphemism while the back showcases a limited-edition version of our logo with "pride" spelled out in morse code--a nod to queer history and the resilience that has been embedded in our language for decades. During such trying times, reclaiming and understanding our history helps us celebrate progress while actively recognizing the work ahead. By staying informed and proud, we can honor the past and build a better, more inclusive future. And most importantly, our resilience is proof that we're not going anywhere!
