In the baptismal covenant of the United Methodist Church, we vow to "accept the freedom and power God gives [us] to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves." As we move into a time of conversation about how to move forward after General Conference 2019, let this garment be a visual statement of your commitment to actively resisting the evils, injustices, and oppressive forces that exclude and harm people, especially POC (People of Color) and LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning) people. Let us remember that God is with those who have been pushed to the margins.
