Mrs. Wilkin is one of over 400 animals the Animal Legal Defense Fund rescued from Cricket Hollow Zoo in Manchester, Iowa after a landmark legal victory. All the rescued animals were moved to sanctuaries and appropriate homes to meet their needs, and allow them to live the rest of their lives in peace.
Mrs. Wilkin was one of two Rhesus monkeys rescued and went on to live our her life at Born Free USA's primate sanctuary in Texas. Mrs. Wilkin had numerous health issues from years of neglect and lack of veterinary care while at the roadside zoo. Though her life at the sanctuary was shorter than we would hope, we are confident that she received the best care possible and lived a life of joy in safety.
This design commemorates her remarkable spirit and wonderful and silly personality.
